You've Tried the Sticker Charts. The Rewards. The Reminders. Maybe Even Taking the Diapers Away.
- 😤Complete refusal — meltdowns every time the bathroom is mentioned
- 💧Accidents even when you know they know how to do it
- 🙈Hiding to poop in a diaper — and resisting the toilet completely
- ⏳Stool withholding — going days at a time without a bowel movement
- 😶"I don't have to go" — and then an accident immediately after
- 🚻Only able to use the toilet at home — nowhere else
- 🔁Progress that was happening, then sudden regression
- 😰Genuine fear and panic around the toilet or bathroom
"What if the problem isn't more training?"
Traditional potty training methods weren't designed for children whose nervous systems process the world differently — or for children carrying body memories of pain, fear, or overwhelm.
For many families, the answer isn't more consistency, more rewards, or more reminders.
The answer is understanding WHY potty training is hard for your child in the first place.
Potty Without Pressure™ helps you stop cycling through strategies that weren't designed for your child — and start with the child in front of you.
What If Your Child Isn't Refusing to Learn?
What if something is getting in the way?
When we start with that question — instead of "how do we get this child to use the toilet?" — everything changes.
The Core Framework
The Regulation First™ Approach
Before we change a behavior, we understand the nervous system behind it. Before we teach the skill, we build the foundation that makes learning possible.
Most potty programs begin with:
"How do we get this child to use the toilet?"
Regulation First™ begins with:
"What does this child need in order to be successful?"
Regulation First™ is a proprietary clinical framework developed by Helping Hands Therapy Services™. The name, sequence, and methodology are part of the licensed Potty Without Pressure™ curriculum.

Get Potty Without Pressure™ — $79This Program Was Designed For Families Whose Children Are:
You don't need a diagnosis. You need a child whose nervous system, sensory needs, learning profile, or history means standard approaches haven't worked.
Experiencing prolonged potty training difficulty despite consistent effort
Refusing the toilet completely or having frequent emotional responses around bathroom time
Having ongoing accidents — daytime, nighttime, or both
Sensory sensitivities affecting the bathroom (sounds, textures, smells, temperature)
Poor recognition of body signals — not feeling the urge until it's too late
History of stool withholding, constipation, or toilet-related fear or pain
Autism, ADHD, anxiety, sensory processing differences, or developmental delays
Who will only use the toilet in specific locations or with specific people
Who have not responded to traditional reward-based or pressure-based approaches
Six Areas That Shape Every Child's Potty Training Picture
In each module, you'll learn to answer one critical question about your child's specific situation. Together, those answers become your personalized plan.
Body Awareness
Does my child reliably feel internal body signals — the urge to go — in time to respond?
Sensory Needs
Is the bathroom environment itself a barrier — through sound, smell, texture, temperature, or the experience of flushing?
Learning Profile
How does my child's brain work — and what approach actually matches how they learn?
Nervous System Regulation
Is my child regulated enough to learn — and do I know what dysregulation looks like for them?
Fear & Trust
Has something happened — a painful experience, a frightening flush, a difficult history — that the body is still protecting against?
Personalized Plan
What does a real, specific, actionable plan look like for MY child — not a generic template?
Seven Modules. One Complete Picture.
Each module builds on the last. By the end, you'll understand your child's specific barriers — and have a concrete plan designed around them.
Why Hasn't Anything Worked?
Understand what's actually behind persistent potty training difficulty — and why standard advice hasn't addressed it. Introduction to the Regulation First™ framework.
Does My Child Even Feel It?
A deep-dive into body awareness — the internal sense that tells us when we need to go. Learn to identify whether this is a factor for your child, and what to do at home.
Why Does the Bathroom Feel So Scary?
A sensory audit of the bathroom environment — identifying the triggers your child's nervous system reacts to, and practical changes that remove barriers before they create resistance.
How Does My Child's Brain Work?
Understand how autism, ADHD, anxiety, PDA, developmental delays, and sensory profiles specifically affect potty training — and what strategies actually match each profile.
Why Does My Child Completely Fall Apart?
The nervous system's role in meltdowns and shutdowns around the toilet. Learn to read warning signs, respond effectively, and use co-regulation as a tool.
What If Something Scary Happened?
For children with fear, trauma history, or pain-related resistance. A gentle approach to rebuilding trust and re-introducing the toilet for children who are genuinely afraid.
Okay — Now What Do I Actually DO?
Everything comes together. Build your child's personalized Regulation First™ potty plan — specific routine, approach, tracking, troubleshooting, and celebrating the right things.

Traditional approaches work beautifully for many children. This program is for the children they weren't designed for.

I'm Kathleen Yopp, a pediatric occupational therapist with 28 years of clinical experience. I specialize in helping children with autism, sensory processing differences, ADHD, anxiety, and developmental delays reach their full potential in daily life — including the skill that stumps so many families: toilet training.
I created Potty Without Pressure™ and the Regulation First™ framework because I kept seeing the same thing in my practice: families who had tried everything — every chart, every method, every piece of advice — and were still stuck. The missing piece was almost never more training. It was understanding the specific nervous system, sensory, and body-based barriers that were getting in the way for their child.
I'm the founder of Helping Hands Therapy Services, PLLC and Helping Hands Therapy Resources. I hold additional certifications in Bio-Individual Nutrition and the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP), and I'm an AOTA Approved Provider and IAOTH Accredited. Potty Without Pressure™ is my answer to the question I heard most often from the families I work with: "We've done everything our pediatrician suggested. Why isn't it working?"

This Program Is Educational — Not a Replacement for Professional Care
Potty Without Pressure™ is an educational parent coaching program based on the Regulation First™ methodology. It is designed to provide education, tools, and support for families working on toilet training with children who have complex needs. It is not a substitute for individualized medical, occupational therapy, behavioral, psychological, or other professional care.
Every child is different. The strategies and information in this program are general educational content and may not apply to every child's situation. If you have concerns about your child's development, health, or specific symptoms, we encourage you to consult with your child's healthcare provider.
Please contact a healthcare provider promptly if your child has: ongoing constipation that is not resolving, any pain associated with bowel movements or urination, blood in stool or urine, a significant or sudden regression after prior progress, signs of a urinary tract infection, or any other medical concern related to elimination.
This program does not establish a provider-client or therapist-patient relationship. Results vary and are not guaranteed.
You Don't Need More Pressure. You Need a Better Understanding of What's Getting in the Way.
Stop cycling through strategies that weren't designed for your child. Your child's body, nervous system, sensory needs, and learning style matter — and this program is built around all of them.
